Medical Oncology

Dr Robert Lim is an experienced Medical Oncologist with clinical interests in gastrointestinal, liver, colon and pancreatic cancers. He practices at Icon Cancer Centre Singapore at Farrer Park Hospital in Singapore.

Biography

Dr Robert Lim is a graduate of both the University of St Andrews and University of Edinburgh where he obtained his medical degree (MBChB). He moved to New York where he completed his postgraduate training in internal medicine followed by medical oncology and haematology at The New York Hospital – Cornell University Medical College and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. In addition to his American Board certifications in internal medicine, medical oncology and haematology, Dr Lim is also a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians in Edinburgh. After returning to Singapore in 1998, he has focused on gastrointestinal, liver and pancreatic cancers.

Besides his skills in clinical care, he has co-authored several studies in colon cancer and pancreatic cancer. From 2005 to 2011, he was the Head of the Department of Haematology-Oncology at the National University Cancer Institute, Singapore (NCIS). During his tenure, he led research studies that focused on developing new drug treatments and improving the understanding of the unique problem for Asians with cancer.

He has been a member of the Specialist Training Committee in Medical Oncology, training and mentoring doctors both in internal medicine and oncology. Among his varied responsibilities, he has served as an Associate Director of NCIS and is currently a council member of Dover Park Hospice, chairing their medical professional audit committee.
